Program Notes

Format:
- When you arrive, please be mindful of the no parking signs as we can’t park in front of those.

-Please arrive no more than 5 minutes early to your scheduled time slot each day. Please check in with the volunteers prior to going on the court so we can keep attendance. When you do arrive, the courts are a first come, first served basis, so grab 3 other players and start warming up. For those who aren’t on the court first, place your paddles in the buckets.

-We will have all 5 courts designated for open pick-up play this year (3 on basketball court and 2 on tennis court #4). Please note: the courts are all for “open play”, there is no designated courts for various levels of play. This program is for all levels and is recreational in nature. We are all here to play pickleball, get some exercise, be social and have fun! There is no room for poor sportsmanship in this program. I understand that we never take the court aiming to lose, but we also don’t need to win at all costs!

-There are a varying skills levels in this program and it’s designed that way on purpose. I understand that when you play, you want a competitive game, but if in fact one time you get paired with a newer player, please be mindful that we all started out at the same level once and to help each other. We want to be encouraging to everyone.

-If more than 25 players are in attendance:
4 on / 4 off format. After a game is completed, those who just played will come off and place their paddles in the back of the bucket. If they won, they would put it in the back of winner’s bucket, if they lost, they would put it in the back of the runner’s up bucket. Then the next 4 paddles in the front of the bucket marked with the clip will be drawn and will go onto the vacant court.
-If less than 25 players are in attendance:
Winners stay and split format. After the game is completed, the winners will stay in split onto the two sides of the court and the next two from the bucket with the chip clip. The winner will only stay on the court for up to two games in a row.

- Games will be played to 9 points, win by 1 unless designated otherwise by the pickleball volunteers.

- Make sure the score is said loudly for everyone to hear prior to each serve, by the Server.

- If there is a questionable call regarding the ball being in or out, we will always err on the side of the ball being in. If the call is too close, we will call it in. There will be no need for arguing calls.

**Weather policy: If we see rain in the forecast and/or the courts are wet, we will be canceling. Even if the rain ends and the sun comes out, the water still would remain on the court and removal of the water is tough and time consuming.

- If in fact we have to cancel, we still have all the equipment you need at each of the courts for you to go down and play on your own. Just know that if you go down after pickleball is canceled, you are playing at your own risk just like if you were to go down on your own time.

***If Pickleball gets canceled due to wet court conditions or rain, we will NOT be refunding the money for that day.***

- Credit refund policy: You need to let the Recreation Department know via email or phone 1 week prior to the date you want to cancel to receive a credit on your account. We will of course consider extenuating circumstances.
